Two Cases of Catamenial Epilepsy

Abstract
Background : Catamenial epilepsy is epileptic seizure occurring in a woman of fertile age exclusively more often during 7 day period of the menstrual cycle starting 2-3 days before the first day of menstruation.

Method : We reviewed 2 cases of catemenial epilepsy had been at the Kosin University Gospel Hospital.

Result : A-30-year-old woman has had complex partial seizure since 15 year of age, significantly more often during the postmenstrual period. The other one is a 43-year-old woman who has had complex partial seizure since 30 year of age. She presented seizure mainly before the day of menstruation. Their seizures were not controlled effectively by conventional antiepileptic drugs.

Conclusion : We report 2 cases of catamenial epilepsy associated with menstrual period.
